Domestic Cookware Recoating in Melbourne

A recoating service for home cookware. Don't throw out a good frying pan, wok or saucepan because the non-stick has worn: we strip it back to bare metal and recoat it with genuine Chemours Teflon™, using the same process we use for industry.

Drop off in Campbellfield, 10 am–2 pm, Monday to Friday. No minimum charge. Ready in 1–2 weeks, with a lifetime workmanship warranty.

Short answer: Yes, worn non-stick cookware from home can be recoated if the pan body is sound. AST burns off the old coating, blasts the pan to bare metal and applies a new food-grade Chemours Teflon™ coating, oven-cured. Bring your pans to 40 Killara Road, Campbellfield, between 10 am and 2 pm on a weekday. Price depends on size, with no minimum charge, and most work is ready in 1–2 weeks.

Why recoat with AST

Genuine Chemours Teflon™

Applied by Australia and New Zealand's only licensed Chemours industrial applicator. Not a spray-can repair.

Stripped and rebuilt properly

Old coating burnt off, pan blasted to bare metal, then primer and topcoat oven-cured — the same steps a factory coating goes through.

One of Australia's longest-established coaters

AST has been applying non-stick coatings since 1989, for industry and now for home kitchens.

Fair, size-based pricing

No minimum charge. One pan or a whole kitchen, you pay for what you bring.

Home cookware we recoat

  • Frying pans and skillets
  • Woks
  • Saucepans and sauté pans
  • Roasting pans and casseroles
  • Home cake tins, muffin tins and baking trays
  • Removable sandwich press and waffle plates

Premium cookware worth saving. A good pan body lasts decades; the coating is the part that wears. Bring in pans from brands such as Scanpan, Bessemer, Le Creuset (non-stick ranges), Woll, Swiss Diamond, Tefal, Circulon and Anolon, and give them a second life for a fraction of the replacement cost.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop off

Bring your pans to 40 Killara Road, Campbellfield VIC 3061, 10 am–2 pm, Monday to Friday. Remove lids, and detachable handles if you can.

  2. 2

    Check and price

We inspect each pan, confirm it is worth recoating and give you a price based on size.

  3. 3

    Strip and blast

The worn coating is burnt off and the pan is grit blasted to clean, rough metal so the new coating bonds.

  4. 4

    Recoat and cure

We apply a Chemours Teflon™ primer and non-stick topcoat and cure them in our ovens. Cookware runs in a weekly batch.

  5. 5

    Pick up

We call you when it is ready, usually within 1–2 weeks. Collect it in the same hours.

What we can't recoat

  • Enamelled cast iron, such as classic Le Creuset casseroles. It is enamel, not a non-stick coating.
  • Pans with plastic or wooden handles that can't be removed. They won't survive the oven.
  • Badly warped, cracked or pitted pans.
  • Appliances with built-in heating elements. Removable plates are fine.

Pans that came with a ceramic or diamond-reinforced coating are recoated in Chemours Teflon™ PTFE, so they come back non-stick but with a different coating from new.

Bakery, café or food manufacturer? Commercial bakeware, production pan sets and food-processing equipment go through our commercial Teflon recoating service.

AST is the only licensed industrial fluoropolymer applicator in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, with technical and quality audits by Chemours Global. Every recoat carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a non-stick frying pan really be recoated?
Yes, if the pan body is sound. We burn off the worn coating, grit blast the pan back to clean metal and apply a new Chemours Teflon™ non-stick coating, cured in our ovens. The result is a fresh non-stick surface on the pan you already own.
How much does it cost to recoat a pan?
Pricing depends on size. There is no minimum charge, so a single small frying pan is welcome. Bring it in or send us a photo with the diameter and we will give you a price.
How long does it take?
We coat cookware in batches, generally once a week, so allow 1–2 weeks from drop-off to pick-up. We will call you when it is ready.
Where do I drop off my pans?
At our workshop, 40 Killara Road, Campbellfield VIC 3061, between 10 am and 2 pm, Monday to Friday. Pick-up is the same hours.
Which brands can you recoat?
Most aluminium, steel and cast non-stick cookware, whatever the brand. That includes premium pans from brands such as Scanpan, Bessemer, Le Creuset (non-stick ranges), Woll, Swiss Diamond, Tefal, Circulon and Anolon. We check every pan at drop-off.
My pan had a ceramic or "diamond" coating. Can you redo it?
We recoat it with a Chemours Teflon™ PTFE non-stick coating, not the maker's own ceramic or diamond-reinforced formula. Your pan comes back non-stick, but with a different coating from the one it was sold with.
Is the new coating food safe?
Yes. We use food-grade Chemours Teflon™ non-stick coatings that comply with US FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food contact and are made without PFOA. Food safety depends on a correct cure, which is what our ovens are built for.
What can't you recoat?
Enamelled cast iron (it is enamel, not a non-stick coating), pans with fixed plastic or wooden handles that cannot be removed, badly warped or cracked pans, and appliances with built-in heating elements. If a pan is not worth recoating, we will tell you before we start.
Will recoating affect the maker's warranty?
Usually, yes: once the original coating is replaced, the maker's coating warranty generally no longer applies. Our recoat carries AST's lifetime workmanship warranty against coating failure caused by our application.
