Resigraph Coating for Glass Delivery Equipment

AST runs a CONDAT Resigraph graphite-resin coating program on glass delivery troughs and deflectors for Visy — a major Australian glass container manufacturer — across multiple sites.

Glass delivery is one of the few places on a glass line where a coating decision shows up directly in product quality — inconsistent release changes how the molten gob arrives at the blank mould. Resigraph replaces a manual, continuous intervention with a semi-permanent film and a maintenance schedule. Full technical detail is on our Resigraph coating services page.

The Challenge

Consistent release, without the swabbing

On a glass container line, molten glass gobs are guided from the feeder into the blank moulds by delivery hardware — troughs and deflectors. That hardware has to release consistently, every gob, for the whole production run. The traditional answer is manual swabbing with lubricant, which costs operator time on the hot end, generates smoke, and gives release quality that varies with how recently the hardware was swabbed. The customer wanted release performance that held on its own between planned interventions.

  • Glass delivery troughs and deflectors
  • Release quality varies with manual swabbing
  • Swabbing generates smoke on the hot end
  • Multiple production sites to support
What AST Did

A coating program, not a one-off application

AST coats the delivery hardware with the CONDAT Resigraph graphite-resin system and runs the work as a scheduled program rather than a one-off. Hardware is coated to a semi-permanent release film and returned to the plant, with reapplication planned against the customer's production windows. The program is coordinated across the customer's Australian sites so each plant is serviced on its own cycle.

  • Resigraph applied to troughs and deflectors
  • Semi-permanent release film
  • Reapplication scheduled to production windows
  • Coordinated across multiple Australian sites
The System

CONDAT Resigraph graphite-resin

Resigraph is a two-component graphite-resin coating engineered for glass container manufacturing — not a fluoropolymer. The cured film provides a low-friction release surface that withstands repeated contact with molten glass gobs and maintains consistent release for approximately 9 to 12 months between reapplications, without the smoke of manual swabbing.

  • Two-component graphite-resin system by CONDAT
  • Engineered for glass container production
  • 9–12 months between reapplications
  • Smoke-free at operating temperature
The Outcome

A scheduled cycle across several plants

Delivery hardware now runs on a scheduled reapplication cycle instead of continuous manual intervention, and the program covers multiple Australian sites. Coated hardware goes back on-line within 7–10 working days of receipt, and AST supports both planned shutdown work and urgent turnaround when a line needs hardware back fast.

  • Scheduled reapplication cycle in place
  • Program running across multiple sites
  • 7–10 working days from receipt
  • Planned shutdown and urgent turnaround supported

AST applies CONDAT Resigraph for glass container manufacturers across Australia and New Zealand, supporting scheduled annual maintenance programs as well as urgent turnaround work. Every job carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship.
